Jean Jacques SEMPÉ (1932–2022) - Lot 174
Jean Jacques SEMPÉ (1932–2022) Consumer Information. Pages 42–43. 1968 Two Indian ink drawings on paper: one drawing and one sketch. One bears the text: “And at 8:05—even though Father never tolerated dinner starting late—André—Uncle André, as he was now called—arrived. Father did not so much as glance at him. It wasn’t until some time later that Anne—Aunt Anne—and I realized that he had deliberately left out one of his cufflinks, and that by sticking a small piece of glossy paper over two or three of them, it gave him, when he smiled, a most comical look. I’ve told you this anecdote to show you that we, too, got up to all sorts of mischief, and we’re perfectly capable of understanding it if you wish.” (Slight creases, stain) 47.5 x 63 cm Note: -The main drawing is quite similar to the one reproduced in the album *L’Information Consommation* on pages 42–43. It is highly likely that this version was published in the magazine *L’Express* or in *Paris Match* -We thank the SEMPE Archives for confirming the authenticity of these works. A certificate may be issued to the buyer at their expense. With the kind cooperation of Sempé’s heirs: Inga Sempé, his daughter, and the children of his late son Jean-Nicolas Sempé
