THAILAND, late 19th century - Lot 1
THAILAND, late 19th century
A large bronze sculpture with a green patina depicting the Buddha in full-face view in the abhaya-mudrā posture, with both hands raised and palms facing outward—a gesture symbolizing the absence of fear.
The slender body and serene face with half-closed eyes are crowned by a high bun and an ornate tiara. The monastic robe features rich engraved decoration: beaded trim, a front panel with stylized scrollwork, a floral sash, and a long central panel with a braided motif.
The entire figure rests on a rear base.
Height: 83 cm
