SCUDERY (Georges de) Alaric, or Rome Vanquished. An heroic poem, dedicated to Her Most Serene Majesty the Queen of Sweden Paris, Augustin Courbé, 1654 A folio volume of 426 numbered pages, full calf (heavily stained); both covers bear a gilded coat of arms in the center; ribbed spine with gilded panels and fleurons; title label in red leather; edges originally orange. Ex-libris of André Philippe, archivist and paleographer. A fine copy featuring a full-page frontispiece and 10 etchings by Chauvet, a burin-engraved vignette on the title page by Daret, and culs-de-lampe. (restorations; binding heavily damaged; water stains; foxing; as is)
