The Aepyornis, a bird endemic to Madagascar that disappeared around the XVIIᵉ century, is considered to be the largest bird that has ever existed. Its eggs, which could reach over 30 cm in height, were 7 times larger than those of an ostrich.
A handsome, light-beige specimen with an old patina and visible restorations.
Period: Late Holocene (between 10,000 and 500 years BP).
