"Seated chief statuette - Anyi ethnic group, Ivory Coast Carved wood with dark brown patina, traces of ritual use. H. 58 cm Elegant, prestigious female figure, standing on a rectangular base, with a chief's seat tied behind her back - a symbol of authority and spiritual power among the Anyi (Akan group, southeastern Côte d'Ivoire). The oval face, fine scarification marks, elaborate hairstyle and stylized necklaces reflect the aesthetic influence of Akan and Baoulé. Beautiful patina, old traces of ritual handling. Work from the beginning to the first half of the 20th century".
