Seated Buddha in Bhumisparsha Mudra Alabaster with traces of black lacquer. Burma, 18ᵉ century. H 83 cm. Seated Buddha in Bhumisparsha Mudra on a lotiform pedestal, wearing an Utarasanga drape covering the left shoulder. The peaceful expression of the face, with half-closed eyes, embodies enlightenment and deep meditation. The contrasting patina of ivory and black underlines the silent spirituality of this sculpture from the Mandalayan tradition.
