Enzo Mari (1932-2020) Mariolina 2002 Two resin and metal cha - Lot 45
Enzo Mari (1932-2020) Mariolina 2002 Two resin and metal chairs Publisher MAGIS H. 85 W 46 D 48 cm Note: A key figure in Italian design, Enzo Mari's work is committed, critical and profoundly humanist. Trained at the Brera art school in Milan, from the 1950s he developed an approach combining industrial design, art, pedagogy and political commitment. Known for his manifesto Autoprogettazione, he advocated accessible and ethical design, based on self-construction and simplicity. Mari collaborated with major publishers such as Danese Milano and Driade. An influential theorist and teacher, he trained generations of designers while refusing commercial compromise. He bequeathed his archives to the city of Milan, stipulating that they would not be made public until 2060, a final gesture of resistance in the face of institutional recuperation.
