Enzo Mari (1932-2020) Mariolino Two resin and metal tables. - Lot 43
Enzo Mari (1932-2020) Mariolino Two resin and metal tables. Edition Magis H. 68 W. 48 D 47 cm (each) Note: A key figure in Italian design, Enzo Mari's work is committed, critical and profoundly humanist. Trained at the Brera fine arts school in Milan, he began developing an approach in the 1950s that blended industrial design, art, pedagogy and political commitment. Known for his manifesto Autoprogettazione (1974), he advocates accessible, ethical design based on self-construction and simplicity. Mari collaborates with major publishers such as Danese Milano and Driade. An influential theorist and teacher, he trained generations of designers while rejecting commercial compromise. He bequeathed his archives to the city of Milan, stipulating that they would not be made public until 2060, a final gesture of resistance in the face of institutional recuperation.
