Camille Mc Ouat (20th century) It was so beautiful I died - - Lot 7
Camille Mc Ouat (20th century) It was so beautiful I died - 2015 Silver print 60x90 cm Note: Camille Mc Ouat is a self-taught photographer, driven by a constant search for absurdity, mystery and hidden beauty in the everyday. Her practice took shape almost by chance, during a quiet vacation in Yorkshire with her nonagenarian great-uncle. What began as a simple visual game became a serious project, driven by the enthusiasm of his family and other photographers. His images, whether taken in the street or in silent landscapes, tell of the irony of the world, a familiar solitude, a discreet humor. There's often a sense of floating, of a fragile presence in a world that would be just fine without us. But it is precisely in this tension between derision and gravity that the strength of his vision lies: both lucid and detached, he captures the world with a tightrope-walking sensibility, between the urgency of existence and the lightness of a stolen moment.
