Artist's note:
Following my monumental exhibition at the Frères Prêcheurs church in Arles
"Ghost Project", for which I felt the need to use paint to evoke the absentees
to evoke the absent people in our lives, that I felt the need to dance on the piece of
of linen canvas I had left.
It was a magical moment of intense concentration, with the paint under my feet
I traced these wild arabesques in a second state, completely connected to the universe and
mind still imbued with my research into those we eternally miss...
eternally missing...
The body spoke without the brain locking in what was to appear on the canvas;
it was a spurt of a few moments: the dance, the breath, the trace in a meditative flight.
meditative flight.
That's how my first danced canvas was born, in a barn in the Camargue that still serves as my studio.
still serves as my studio.
For the following ones, it was more complicated.
so I discarded some that didn't show any trace of a moment of grace.
Because this second state cannot be ordered, these canvases will remain rare and precious.
precious.
Mare Nostrum is a series of frescoes danced on the roof of the Bunker des Calanques in
Marseilles in homage to those drowned in the Mediterranean
