LALANNE François-Xavier (1927-2008) and Cristallerie DAUM. Piriform decanter in blown clear crystal. Truncated-cone crystal stopper. Signed at the tip. The sculpted gilded bronze stopper depicts a standing sheep. Monogrammed FXL on the base and stamped Daum France on the reverse. Height of carafe: 35.5 cm - Height of stopper alone: 5.8 cm - Height of stand: 4 cm Provenance: In 1987, Baron Philippe de Rothschild offered the decanter to his friend Madame Suzanne DELBEE. Then by inheritance. Note: In 1982, Baron Philippe de Rothschild, through his Société Baron Philippe de Rothschild S.A. then known as "La Bergerie", succeeded in bringing together sculptor François-Xavier Lalanne and Daum crystalware to collaborate on the creation of the exceptional decanter presented here. A limited edition of twenty decanters was produced to reward some of Château Mouton Rothschild's most loyal customers during the Saint-Vincent winegrowers' festival on January 22, 1983.
